How to Find Free Books on Kobo
Finding free books online might seem like a daunting task, but with platforms like Kobo, it’s easier than you might think. Kobo offers a wide range of free books in different genres, letting you discover new reads without spending anything. In this guide, we’ll show you how to find the best free books on the platform.
How to Access Kobo
First, open your web browser and navigate to the Kobo website. If you do not have an account, it is best to create one at this stage so you can access the full range of features.
How to Find Free Kobo Books
From the homepage, scroll over the “eBooks” option from the top bar, then select “free eBooks” from the list of options that opens on the right.
From this page, you can scroll through the list of genre options until you find one that you like, and then select “View all” on the right hand side. This will give you a list of all the free eBooks that Kobo currently has in that genre.
You can conveniently sort the list in numerous ways using the dropdown menu provided on the right-hand side. Options include sorting by “Bestseller” to discover current popular titles, “Highest Rated” to explore top-rated reads in the genre, or sorting alphabetically or by the date they were added to Kobo’s collection.
Alternatively, if you want to search for a more specific genre or trope, you can type it into the search bar at the top of the site. In this example, I will search for “legal thrillers.”
Then, you can select the “eBook” filter from the list of options that appears under the results, then click “More Filters” from the same list.
In the window that pops up, scroll down until you see the “Free books only” option under “Price,” and toggle it on.
Discovering free books on Kobo is that simple! Although the methods outlined above may not reveal every available free book on Kobo, they will streamline the process and make finding your next new read convenient and fast!

Once you’re on the homepage, scroll down to the “Top Charts” section and click on “Top Free” to filter the selection. Here you can see the most popular books that have no cost for you to download.
While this list is great at finding the most popular free books, this isn’t the best way to find the ideal books you’re looking for. To do this, you’ll want to search. To do so, click the magnifying glass at the top right of your screen. This will open up a search bar. This is where you can now finetune your search to find books in your favorite genres. In this example, I will search for ‘Science Fiction Books.’
After pressing ‘enter’ you’ll be presented with books in your specified genre. To refine this search even more, click on the ‘price’ button at the top of the results and filter by ‘free.’ This will show you a list of free books in your favorite genre and simply press the arrow at the side of the list to scroll for more options.

How to Find Free Books on Apple Books
Apple Books, Apple’s digital bookstore and reading app, offers a huge library of eBooks across all your favorite genres. While many of these books come with a cost, there are also lots of free books to be discovered. Whether you’re an avid reader or just looking for a few good books without breaking the bank, this guide will show you how to find free books on Apple Books.
What is Apple Books?
Apple Books is the official app for reading eBooks or listening to audiobooks on Apple devices. The only way to access this app is from iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, or Mac computers. Unlike other platforms like Amazon Kindle or Kobo, Apple does not sell a dedicated e-ink reading device.
How to Access the Apple Books Store
Unlike other online bookstores, Apple makes it a little tricky to access it’s store. While you can access some direct eBook links and top charts in a web browser, you won’t be able to see the whole store or purchase/download books without using the app. The Apple Books app should already be downloaded on your Apple device. If it is not, just click here and you’ll be able to find the app.
Once the app is on your device, simply click on the Apple Books icon and it will open. You can also click on ‘view in Apple Books’ on a specific book via a web browser.
Where to Find Free Books on the Apple Books Store
Now that you are in the Apple Books app, we’ll show you how to find those free books you’ve been searching for. (Note: these steps are while using the Apple Books App on a Mac, it is a similar process on iPhone but the menus will be in different locations)
On the left side of the screen, click on ‘Book Store’.
When in the Book Store section, scroll down until you find ‘Top Charts’. The free charts will be on the right. Now click on ‘See More Free’ at the bottom of the section.
Now you can browse through the current top free book charts on the Apple Books Store.
While the Top Charts have some fantastic free books, you’ll likely want a more extensive list. To bring up more options, click on the search bar at the top left of the app. In this box, you can search for ‘Free Books’ to see a longer list of free titles. You can also add a specific genre to this search query like ‘Free Romance Books’ to see a more specific collection.
It’s that easy, while you won’t be able to find all the free books on the Apple Store, this method definitely offers a decent selection of free books.

How to Find Kindle Books Based on My Favorite Authors
When you have a favorite author and you finish reading all of their books, it can be hard to find other books and authors that captivate you the same way your favorite author does. You might be wondering how to find books similar to your favorite authors, and while it can be challenging to find books that will scratch the same itch, it’s not impossible.
With a bit of research, you can uncover books that are similar in style, subject matter, or tone to your favorite authors. From looking at blurbs to looking at lists, here are several ways to discover more great books and authors. By taking the time to explore each of these options, you can uncover Kindle books that will be just as enjoyable as ones by your favorite authors!
Tip 1: Pay Attention to Book Blurbs
If you’ve ever noticed quotes from different authors on a book cover or in a book description, you may know that these are called book blurbs. While these promotional descriptions can be helpful for getting a better idea of what a book is about, the blurbs can also be great at helping you find similar authors.
For example, Beach Read author Emily Henry has a blurb for Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne. Both authors write contemporary romance novels, so if you enjoy books from one author, you’ll likely enjoy books by the other.
Tip 2: Utilize Goodreads Lists to Find Similar Authors
Goodreads is a vast database of books and a thriving community of book lovers. The website allows readers to rate books and create lists based on genres, themes, and writing styles. The best way to use Goodreads to find books similar to your favorite authors is by exploring the “Lists” section.
Whether you’re looking for book recommendations based on other books, authors, authors, or even characters, the “Read Alikes” book list section has you covered. For instance, if you are a fan of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, you can check out the list “If You Like Harry Potter You Might Like…” to see what books you’ll likely enjoy reading next.
Tip 3: Products Related To This Item on Amazon
Did you know that Amazon will suggest similar Kindle books when you are browsing their website? If you pull up a book’s page and scroll down, you’ll see the “Products Related To This Item” section. There, you’ll find dozens of books by authors who are similar to the one you’re browsing.
For example, we browsed the Amazon page for a spy thriller book and found similar spy and action thrillers listed on this section of the page.
With these results in mind, this tip is a simple way to help you find books written by authors who are similar to your favorites.
Tip 4: Look Closely At Book Descriptions
Book-related newsletters and websites, such as Freebooksy, are a great way to discover new books and authors that you might not have otherwise come across. One of the ways these newsletters can be especially helpful is by mentioning specific authors in their descriptions.
When a description highlights an author you love, it can be a good indication that the book you’re reading about will be similar in style or subject matter. This can help you quickly identify new books to add to your reading list that you’re likely to enjoy.
